DIY Painted and Glittered Feathers

Posted on Nov 28, 2012 by in Blog, DIY | 0 comments

I am loving this whole glittered feather trend right now! Well, maybe just anything glittered! I have seen all kinds of fun feathers all over Pinterest and even started a feather board. Of course, I pinned these fun glittered ones too! I had to just try it out for myself to see how easy it really is! Totally easy!

I originally spotted the glittered feathers on Bridal Musings. I love how something so simple can be made into such a creative element that adds a whimsical flare! This project was a lot of fun and I enjoyed making these fabulous little guys as a funky touch to our decor. All you need is some white paint, white glitter, paint brush, foam and of course, feathers.

I took out all my feathers from the packaging and straightened them out nice and even. I found my feathers at Michael’s and chose all white, but you can use any color or size of feather. One at a time, I carefully took my white paint and painted the tips of my feathers. I wanted the feathers to look as though they had been dipped in the paint. I chose to use a brush so that there wasn’t any clumping. I took my glitter and covered the painted area completely. I waited a couple seconds for it to stick and carefully shook off the excess. I stabbed the bottom of the feather in my foam to dry and repeated these steps with the remaining feathers. Once they had all dried I took some twine and tied each one to create a cute little garland of sorts. These could be used for a lot of things as well: gift packaging, wreaths, center pieces and bouquets to name a few!

I think I want to try this project out with smaller feathers next time and various colors! It’s just too fun and easy to do!

Do you like the feather trend this season? How about all that glitter?!

XOXO, Lidy
