I’ve had a banner  (click here for the DIY) I made a few months ago just sitting around with nothing to do.  I needed time until I could figure out what it was I wanted to do with it. For a couple of months it’s just been hanging in the window of my nook looking cute, but quite bare. Well, abviously Valentine’s Day is a month or so away and it dawned on me….a Valentine’s banner! Here’s the thing. I am big on SOME holidays, but not ALL holidays. I don’t overhaul my house each time a Hallmark holiday approaches us, but I do like to have a little something here and there. I also wanted this banner to be something I could hang elsewhere when I was finished with it. So, I decided to stay away from the traditional pinks and reds and go with something a bit different. I’m also hoping to use it in the baby nursery once I start decorating in there!!! This DIY is super simple. First you will have to make yourself a banner, which I provided a link at the top. Once you have that, the rest is simple and a lot of fun!

Acrylic fabric paint in your choice of colors

Small paint brush ( you can have one for each color paint you choose, but I just washed mine and let dry between each use)

Damp cloth (for wiping up any mishaps….precaution really.)

Using your pencil, lightly draw and outline a heart on each triangle of the banner. You may choose to do every other one or in any pattern you choose.

Place your paint in a container so it is readily available and you can add to it as you go. Choose the first color you decide to start with and carefully paint inside your outline. Let each color dry completely before proceeding. Once paint dries, continue with each separate color.

If you accidentally get paint on the banner outside of your heart, take damp cloth and scrub. If this doesn’t do the trick, try tide-to-go which works brilliantly.

There you have it! Told you it was easy! Now hang it in a room where ever your heart desires and enjoy all that effort you put in to making this project possible!
