Color Me Rad 2012

Color Me Rad 2012

I thought I would share with you some fun things I’ve been up to this summer so far! A couple weeks ago, I had the pleasure of running my first 5k! I know, it’s not a huge accomplishment compared to all the half-marathon/marathon runners out there! Still, this run in particular was so fun! I can’t wait to do it next year again! Only, I hope it’s a lot cooler…. A few friends and I decided we would do this colorful run together. We were so busy having fun, I think we forget it was actually a 5k! Just be warned: you start out so nice and clean. Then the color bombs start getting thrown around and before you know it, you are one hot mess. I felt like a kid again! I’m not gonna lie, I looked horribly and disgustingly dirty afterward. But it was totally worth it!  If your city ever hosts a Color Me Rad Run, be sure to sign up with some friends and family! You won’t regret it!  Have you ever participated in Color Me Rad before? You will have a blast! XOXO, Lidy...
Canada Day Party

Canada Day Party

So yesterday was Canada Day! I was born and raised in Canada and all my family still resides there. I decided that although my husband and I live in California, we still needed to celebrate our roots! So, we decided to throw a fun party and have a few friends over to celebrate with us! They were super supportive and we had a lot of fun. We ate an array of amazing foods. Canada isn’t really known for having one kind of food, but Poutine is a popular dish my husband and I try to have every time we are up for a visit (super simple to make!). That was a must on our menu! We also served a lot of sweets and other goodies! It was a lot of fun making everything go with the Canada theme. We cut the cheese into “eh” and the Canadian maple leaf, made a cake to look like the Canadian flag and dipped strawberries into white chocolate to go with the colors! I will share recipes and how-to’s later this week!  The decor was simple, with touches of red and white. I made a simple banner using paper of varying red and white patterns and twine. When we think of Canada we think of the great Canadian Rockies, so we went with a fun woodsy theme. We had some logs, antlers, pine cones and little things here and there to give it a nice Canadian outdoor feel.  We have some great friends, we are so thankful for them sharing Canada Day with my husband and I! We sure did have a lot...
Liebster Award

Liebster Award

About a week ago, I was graciously given the Liebster award through a great bloggy friend, Lexy! Her blog is totally cute and she is absolutely sweet, so go pay her a little visit at The Proper Pinwheel! Thanks Lexy, you are ever so kind!  I have to be totally honest, I wasn’t too sure what it meant to receive the Liebster Award. So, I did some research and discovered that it is given to smaller blogs (200 followers or less) who are, as Lexy put it, “on the up and up”! I was flattered, but now it is my duty to pass on this wonderful award to 5 other blogs I believe deserve this honor as well! #1. Jess from Scarlet Begonia Vintage: what can I say? Her blog is gorgeous, she is full of wonderful ideas and inspiration! #2. Gemma from Little Tiny Pieces: her blog is lovely and she is a talented designer as well!  #3. Dana from five30three: she is totally sweet and her writing honest and quirky!  #4. Amanda from Little Tranquility: you will discover her blog is full of beautiful visuals and photographs!  #5. Hannah from Darla Dear: she has all sorts of wonderful goodies on her blog!  It was so hard to decide, since I have so many blogs I love and read often! I am so grateful for this award and hope others will be blessed by it as well!  XOXO, Lidy...
Making New Friends: CCOC

Making New Friends: CCOC

I mentioned last week how a few of us girls were headed to CCOC and how we could hardly wait!  Well, we’re back from our fun getaway and enjoyed our time in the beautiful Mission Viejo! The thing I really appreciate about CCOC is the amazing women you meet. From all backgrounds, professions and interests, you always leave encouraged and inspired! Not to mentioned, you make at least 12 new friends! I appreciate how their goal is to support your creative outlet and to help you feel like you are headed in the right direction. None of this competitive or negative behavior you might get elsewhere. These girls are truly sweet! The only problem is, you don’t want to leave…you could sit and chat all week long!!!!  I had a fantastic time being one of the featured creatives, along with a few other AMAZING ladies! As soon as I got there, my nerves melted away because of all their uplifting words. Thanks ladies for making this experience a great one!   I am already looking forward to next month’s! If you are interested in joining or want to find out dates for the next event, check out their facebook page to see if you have one in your area!  How do you feel about the idea of meeting up with local creatives and having the chance to make new friends? It’s pretty amazing if ever given the chance! Here are a few more creatives to check out: Sue Wheelock Ashleigh Garret Nook and Sea Ellen Kern Double-Sided Tape One Handspun Day Postscript Thoughts If I missed you, I...
Creative Connection OC

Creative Connection OC

This month is a busy one for me, I don’t know where it has gone! We are getting close to the end of the month already, can you believe it?! In February, I had the pleasure of going to my first Creative Connection event in LA. I met some amazing girls and have been in contact with many of them since then. I love meeting new people and making new friends, especially when you share similar passions and hobbies! I was blown away by the talent I saw and left feeling so inspired, hopeful and encouraged (pictures courtesy Meghan!). This month, I am planning on attending the Creative Connection in Orange County (this Saturday!). Not only that, but I am SO excited to be one of the featured creatives! I was asked if I would like to be a part of it and couldn’t refuse….even though I was super nervous and maybe even a bit doubtful of myself. But that’s the thing, you never know until you try! One of the things I learned from the last  Creative Connection event was to set bigger goals and maybe you will accomplish more than you would have had you put yourself in a box. This is me taking myself out of that tiny box and allowing opportunities to come my way. I have been so supported by family and friends, that I feel I am growing more confidently in what I know and love!  So, Friday after work a bunch of of us are driving up to Orange County to spend the night and galavant around! Perhaps we shall do some shopping,...
Free Sponsorship

Free Sponsorship

Hello friends! I am super excited for this new chapter at Hello Lidy | Bonjour and Hello! I had the pleasure of coming across some amazing blogs the other day and spotted a fantastic idea that was circulating among them: free sponsorships! So, I decided to follow along and start my own!  Do you have a blog or other creative endeavor that you are trying to promote? Look no more! Hello Lidy is looking for the same, like-minded friends who can help support one other through FREE sponsorship! Here at Hello Lidy | Bonjour and Hello, I know how difficult and challenging it can be to get your name out there and your creative outlet noticed! I want to help encourage and support your creativity, whether we are exactly the same or totally opposite! Bloggers, photographers, fashionistas, writers, foodies, designers, party planners, you name it! Come one, come all!  With the free button-swap, we can work together to inspire and encourage others in the creative online community! So what are you waiting for?!  How it works – I give you a space to put your ad up for an unlimited time (times may vary depending on the space availability, but you will be notified).  – In exchange, you must also be willing to allow my ad to be placed on your site as well (hence, the swapping)!  – Once a week, I will do a feature on one of the new sponsors (I will contact you when it’s your turn!)  – Lastly, to show support I just ask all sponsors to do one (or more if you would like)...
Creative Connection LA

Creative Connection LA

I have been trying to make it to Creative Connection for weeks and I finally made it!!! Let me tell you,  it was worth the wait (and the drive to LA)! We met  in a nice and quiet room at the back of the fun and trendy Village Idiot! Though once in a while you would hear the thrill shriek of grown men as they cheered while watching soccer, nothing could stop us from having a great time! We were greeted by some amazing girls! Our hosts for the morning: Emilee Hegg from Tasteful Tatters (SO sweet and wonderful), Nailah Blades from Polka Dot Coaching (Super motivational and encouraging!), and Christy Schnurle from One Handspun Day (Super talented artist who HANDMADE our name tags….we got to decorate them! Genius!)  I met so many wonderful ladies there, I can’t even begin to tell you all about them!  The room was buzzing with excitement and laughter as we all shared our stories, passions, dreams and talents. We exchanged cards and left with a feeling of pure happiness as we gained new friends! I feel so blessed to be a part of a group of girls that support and encourage me in what I do. I have never been surrounded by such positivity!! Even though many of us have similar passions and talents (bloggers, graphic designers, photographers), they still encourage you and your creative outlet! Wow!  Thank you Creative Connection for hosting a wonderful event! I look forward to many more to come!!!  XOXO,...
