Pineapple Centerpieces

Pineapple Centerpieces

Today is our son Holden’s fourth birthday! I can’t believe it! Joel took him on a field trip to with his fourth grade class this morning, so I think he’ll come home a very excited birthday boy. Since this is our last year celebrating his birthday in California, a tropical party seemed like a good fit for a theme.  While the boys are gone for the day, I am putting the party details together for this weekend. We will be celebrating with our closest friends in just a couple days while listening to some surf rock, eating some Hawaiian kabobs, sipping on hibiscus tropical punch and other delicious treats. There will be LOTS of pineapples and flamingos! I even found a flamingo pinata – it’s amazing. And of course, these fun DIY Pineapple Centerpieces.  What you will need: Yellow Paper Pen or Pencil Scissors Tape Vase Greenery What to do: 1. Gather your supplies 2. With your pen, draw your pineapple shape 3. Cut out the pineapple 4. Place tape on the back of your paper pineapple 5. Secure it to the front of your vase 6. Place your greenery in the vase and you’re done!  These pineapples are simple and adorable! They will make great additions to our tropical party. There will be plenty of bold and bright colors on Holden’s special day! What do you think of a tropical party theme? I am loving the whole pineapple and flamingo trend right now! Hibiscus Tropical Punch

Hibiscus Tropical Punch

This shop is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group® and Dr. Pepper Snapple Group, but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia #FlavorforLess http://mydisclosur.es/OBsstV May is a busy birthday month in our house hold! Our daughter just celebrated a birthday a week ago and now our son is going to be four in just a few short days! I love planning parties and coming up with fun little themes I know our kids are going to love! We decided to do a bright and colorful tropical party for our son this year! Think lots of pineapples and flamingos! I am busy putting together some yummy treats and drinks to serve our guests that are both adult and child friendly. Since the weather is starting to get hotter, I really wanted to serve a refreshing drink that wasn’t going to be loaded with sugar and calories. I decided to make a delicious Hibiscus Tropical Punch! But like most punches, the base is usually soda and that means a lot of sugar and a lot more unnecessary calories. Luckily, TEN calorie products offer a great variety of sodas that offer a lot less sugar and are a lot better for you, so I don’t have to worry about sacrificing that refreshing taste!  What you will need: Hibiscus Tea Bags 7 UP Ten  Pineapple Juice A variety of cut up fruit (I used fresh pineapples, strawberries, grapes, blueberries) What to do: Boil your water and steep your hibiscus tea until cool. Pour 1/3 tea, 1/3 7 UP Ten and 1/3 pineapple juice into your pitcher. Add ice...
Violet’s Flora and Fauna Party With Minted

Violet’s Flora and Fauna Party With Minted

Last week we celebrated Violet’s 3rd birthday! It was a special one for us, since it’s her last party here in California before we move. Not to mention, my mom flew in from Canada to celebrate with us! A few of our closest friends came over and we let the kids run around and play. I think our Flora and Fauna theme was a success. I always choose Minted decor for my parties! They have the best selection of modern party decor. There are always so many to choose from, sometimes it’s hard to pick! This year I went with the Guapa Party Decor. I loved the floral design and colors. They were subtle, with pops of bright pink here and there! I always love how they really put that finishing touch on the entire party. From the banners, the table top confetti, table signs, flag stickers, to the cute notecards! It really makes all our parties come together so beautifully! The other decor was pretty simple. I cut fresh cut greens from our back yard and placed them in flea market bottles on the main table. I had a few of Violet’s favorite animals on the tables, mostly owls and foxes. We had rose petals adorn the tables as well, even made tattoo rose water! It was all very fancy! We picked Oleander and Bougainvillea on the tables to fill in the empty spaces, even made little labels for them with the cute watercolor notecards!  Obviously, we ate….too much. Besides having a simple BBQ, my husband made some delicious and amazing sugar cookies. I made a layered raspberry...
Fresh Cut Greens As Decor

Fresh Cut Greens As Decor

As we are preparing to celebrate Violet’s third (and last birthday in California…tear), I decided to share a simple and affordable way to jazz up your home and parties! I feel blessed that we have so many different arrays of plant life in our yard alone, so I decided to pick a few and display them in an assortment of flea market bottles!  Dare I say I almost prefer the simplicity of fresh cut greens over flowers? Don’t get me wrong, I love a good bouquet of peonies, but there is something to be said about these little guys that you don’t hear all that much: they are awesome!  I originally stumbled on this fabulous idea on Apartment Therapy (no big surprise) and couldn’t get it out of my head. I thought it would be the perfect time to give it a try for V’s Flora and Fauna party and I am so glad I did! They add so much life to the whole thing!  Best part is, I can transfer them right into my home when I’m all done with the party. I’ve already picked out a few spots and love how they give the space that pop of green! A perfect way to add that fabulous color might I add!  What do you think of incorporating simple greens in your home or your next party? I’ll be sharing more of Violet’s birthday next week, so stay tuned!  XOXO, Lidy Feel free to leave a comment! You can also follow Hello Lidy by email, Pinterest, Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram...
Flora and Fauna Party Planning

Flora and Fauna Party Planning

It’s that time of year again! Soon we will be heading into the month of MAY, if you can believe it! This is a big month, since we are celebrating two special birthdays: our daughter and then our oldest son! This year, we decided to go with a girly and whimsical theme for Violet: Flora and Fauna!  I’ve gathered my essentials to make this party a success! I strongly believe the the more organized you are, the less stressed you will be! I’m feeling super excited to throw this party! The colors are bright, happy and feminine! I can’t believe she will be THREE next week already! Excuse me while I wipe away some tears…they just grow up too fast! Like last year, I went with Minted party supplies to help celebrate our daughter’s special day! They have the greatest selection of modern themes! I went with the Guapa Party Decor! I thought it was perfect for our flora and fauna idea, I loved the vibrant colors and whimsical design! It just seemed so Violet!  It will be an intimate event with our closest friends and family! Which means we can relax and let the kids play, while we all chat and eat! I know I get a lot of flak from some family that our parties are a bit boring because all we do is sit around. But when you have young toddlers, trying to organize some sort of game or craft is just not going to happen! Or rather, it’s not worth the stress! I would prefer the kids run around and be free to play with...
Triangle Confetti

Triangle Confetti

I thought I would sneak in one more DIY using fun triangles!! This one is super SUPER easy! Simply take your fancy triangle puncher, grab those paint chips in the colors you love and punch away! These would be great for any party or holiday! I stuck with my ombre green and black theme to keep it a bit modern!  This triangle confetti looks great on our coffee table, but you could put it anywhere throughout your home! I think I might be doing this for our next birthday party too! It’s just so fun!  St. Patrick’s Day is less than a week a way! I’ve shared some very simple and modern ways you can add a touch of green to your home this coming holiday! Be sure to check out the Geometric Vases and Triangle Garland to complete the look!  What do you think of taking this approach for holidays you aren’t too crazy about? Twinkle Twinkle Little Star Party

Twinkle Twinkle Little Star Party

This weekend, we celebrated our little man‘s FIRST birthday! I feel this year has flown by so quickly! What a blessing he is to our family! For his first birthday (and party for that matter….poor sweet babe never had a baby shower), we wanted it to be very special! He was the little star for the day and how appropriate to have the theme “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star”!  Last week, I shared my Party Planning Details! I think it turned out great and I know he loved all the treats! We picked gold, black and white as our color palette. Of course,  stars on all the decorations and some party food! The Blackboard Perfection Party Decor from Minted was a great choice for this theme! It truly made everything flow nicely and fall perfectly in sync! I even used black foam board for the back drop, which went nicely with the black board party decor.  We decided that milk and cookies would be a great treat for all the kids! My mom was amazing and baked NINE dozen cookies for our little man’s special day! We had peanut butter, chocolate chip and s’mores! Yum! We also enjoyed the tasty star chocolate cake and star sugar cookies that were made by others as well! So nice not having to worry about all the food preparations and they all did such a beautiful job! My amazing hubby was also a huge help! Thank you everyone! Of course, every party should have little treats with goodie bags to fill, so I kept the candies black and white to help the table look...
Party Planning Details

Party Planning Details

Last week I shared with you how we are throwing our little man his FIRST birthday! We decided to go with a cute little theme: Twinkle Little Star! We wanted to modernize it a bit, so I made sure to do a lot of Party Planning to help me stay on track!  I’ve collected all my supplies and have everything ready to go! I’ve been a busy bee, trying to get it all together. I’ve made a fun little backdrop, glitterized my Minted banner (plus all the other amazing supplies for this party!) and was sure to use a lot of stars to help with the perfect twinkle star experience! I will be sure to show you all the pictures after! Today, I wanted to show you just how easy it is to make this Twinkle Little Star party simple and doable! I think the “musts” of every party is a theme. It helps you stay focused on all the details and naturally, it will all fall in place! Don’t go too crazy with the theme – you don’t want stars galore! Just enough to give everyone a feel for it. I’ve chosen to add little stars to the banner, some stars as hanging decor, little star stickers on the cups and the backdrop. It’s enough that you see it pull together, but not so much that your head might explode! Secondly, find a color palette and choose 2 to 3 colors you want to hone in on. I’ve chosen black, white and accented with metallics. This will make buying your supplies a breeze! Stick to the colors: cups, napkins, forks,...

Our youngest little man will be turning one in less than a month! I can’t believe it! I will never forget when we brought him home. He was two months old and so tiny! Where does the time go?! I am excited to throw him a very special first birthday – we are going with a Twinkle Little Star theme. We want to stick with a modern color palette and incorporate a mid century vibe in there. I am busy gathering supplies and figuring out all the little details – it’s going to be a lot of fun!  /one/ love the idea of these mid century brass stars /two/ how fun to have black balloons for writing cute messages on them /three/ a party wouldn’t be complete without an adorable banner /four/ might have to try and recreate this fantastic moon and star pinata /five/ our little man must have a one-of-a-kind party hat /six/ these star napkins are modern and fabulous /seven/ we are wanting to create a fun chalkboard background for the party – the stars would be a fun touch /eight/ star shaped goodies are on the agenda for sure What do you think so far? Summer Party Fun

Summer Party Fun

Glasses Summer is flying by and I am trying to enjoy as much of it as possible! I’m thinking of hosting a little party with close friends before my hubby goes back to work (he’s a fourth grade teacher) and we all start getting busy again. I love having friends over for a tasty BBQ, games and chit chat around a nice bonfire. I put together a few of my party must haves for a successful summer party! Beverage Dispenser / Knit Pouf / Turquoise Enamel Cutlery  Melamine Geometric Bowl / Dotted Napkin / Globe Lights I decided to have a theme surrounded by serving lemonade! Is that weird? I thought of serving traditional lemonade, as well as some delicious flavored lemonades as well! I picked light, bright and geometric patterns for a fresh and fun touch! Plus, some fancy pieces to serve my yummy lemonades in as well! Wouldn’t a DIY lemonade stand be so fun? It would be fabulous for the kids as well! I decided to share one of the flavors from Sunday Suppers that I might serve – it sounds so refreshing and delicious!  Lavender Lemonade * 2 cups sugar * 5 sprigs lavender (stems and buds), plus additional for garnish * 2 cups fresh lemon juice (from about 10 lemons) * 1/2 cup fresh lime juice (from about 4 limes) Directions: In a large saucepan, bring one gallon of water and the sugar to a boil. Remove from heat; add 7 lavender sprigs and lemon and lime juices. Cool to room temperature, strain, and chill. Serve on ice, with additional lavender for garnish. Can’t wait to get this...
