It’s the Weekend – Happy Halloween!

It’s the weekend, but not just any weekend. It’s Halloween weekend, which means seeing our cute kids in cute costumes and eating their candy. Just kidding. Kind of.  This year, our kids wanted to pick out there costumes. I really enjoyed watching them choose the things that expressed who they were as individuals. Holden wanted to be a “Hero” and picked a firefighter. Violet wanted to be a “Traffic Light”!!!! I thought this was hilarious. But then, she saw a fairy costume and decided she would rather be a “Tooth Fairy”. Maybe next year she can be the traffic light. Sebastian is obsessed with Paw Patrol, so this year he is “Marshall”, who happens to be a firefighter dog. Wouldn’t you know, all the costumes have a theme! Firefighter boy, firefighter dog and the Tooth Firey. Get it? Here are some links to check out this weekend: I definitely will be referring to this Ultimate Guide to Halloween Candy this weekend! I love me some bling and I think these DIY Glitter Rings would make great stocking stuffer surprises this year!  I love where this Modern and Vintage Office Space is going and there’s a giveaway!  We are SO doing this next year. Simple Eucalyptus Arrangement

I haven’t done a plant series in a couple weeks, but today I decided to focus on another kind of green! When it comes to florals, I’m a real simple kind of gal. A matter of fact, you can just ditch the flowers and give me the greenery and I’ll be just as happy!  I’ve always loved eucalyptus – of every kind. So I decided to put together a really simple arrangement for our home. It adds the perfect amount of color to the room, especially against the black walls. I even love the shape of the arrangement, as it stretches out quite a bit. It’s perfect for Halloween and and even after that!  This winter and leading into Christmas, I’m really hoping to keep my decor minimal and clean. But still have a bit of fun with it for the kids. I’m really wanting to bring in A LOT of greenery to act as my decor this year. I have some fun ideas, but we will see if it works. I might have to get some tips and pointers from my local florist.  How about you – what kind of arrangements do you gravitate toward? XOXO, Lidy...

DIY Halloween Wreath Diorama

It’s that time of year. Halloween! It’s not the most popular holiday in our home, I’ll admit. But sometimes it’s fun to be a little festive and create a few bold statement pieces that require less spooky decor and acts as more of a focal point in the home. In this case, it’s a rather fun DIY Halloween Wreath Diorama!  Materials Martha Stewart Silhouettes  Martha Stewart Window and Mirror Clings Wire Wreath Frame with Ties (in black) Leather Moss Hot Glue Gun Scissors *Martha Stewart Crafts Halloween products are available in store at Michaels. Instructions 1. Begin by separating the ties on your wire wreath. You are going to rely on these to bring depth to your design.  2. Take your cave silhouette and trace the curve of the bottom of your wreath to the paper.  3. Cut your paper cave accordingly. Simply hot glue the cave to the bottom/back of your wire wreath. 4. Take your various bats and begin to hot glue them to the ties of the wreath. I chose to use paper silhouettes and clings for the flat and shiny surfaces. It really helps the wreath feel more dimensional. Disperse big and small ones on the front and back ties to help create an almost 3D effect.  5. Cut a circle out of your leather to create your moon. Leather is great for that textural element – you can pinch and scratch the leather to help add more character if necessary. Hot glue to a tie that is towards the back of the wreath.  6. Once all your elements are hot glued to the wreath, you can add moss for more texture...

DIY Seasonal Terrarium

Well friends, I’m going to be honest. I am not decorating my whole living space for Halloween this year. Ok there, I said it – don’t hate me! As a busy mom, I’m finding less time to do the things I use to do. But little pieces here and there are ok with me. I’m trying to find ways to decorate my home seasonally without having to store more decor away for the year or reorganize an entire room for one holiday! A terrarium is the perfect solution to this problem. Head on over to Curbly for the three different looks I tried out! XOXO,...

Bohemian Modern Living Room

I’ve been slowly transforming our living room yet again to really suit our relaxed and laid back nature. You might have noticed that I experiment a lot in designing our space, which you can see just a small sample of the previous looks here and here. Walking into the front door, your eyes are immediately level with our living room upstairs. It was really important to me that this room make an impression when friends and family walked into our home for the first time. And if you haven’t noticed, leather is making a comeback my friends! We recently added a new leather sofa and this gorgeous butterfly chair to give our living room that bohemian modern look. Both of these pieces compliment one another, as well as our vintage sofa and other pieces in the room.  Butterfly chairs are an extremely affordable way to introduce leather into the home. It’s versatile and can easily suit a plethora of design styles. In my opinion, butterfly chairs are a must-have this year! They aren’t just pretty to look at, they’re pretty darn comfy too.  We are passionate about the details, which is how we are by nature. So, we stuck with a neutral color palette to keep the room light and airy and added natural elements like plants, wicker baskets, fur, leather and wood. Plus, bringing in some quirk – like hand sculptures and hats on walls.  The room looks inviting, comfortable, modern and mature. It’s exactly what I’ve been trying to achieve, because it really represents both Joel and I as a whole. I am really happy with this room and love just about everything about it – how about you? XOXO,...
