DIY Modern Wood Candelabra

Ok, so this DIY should be described as simple and modern. Because it really will be the easiest thing you’ve tried in a long time. Not to mention, a lovely center piece for your dining table this fall!  Materials 2x4x6 Treated wood drilled rail  Chandelier candles  Flowers and greenery  *Disclaimer: Please use common sense when working with candles. If your table is shorter or you don’t feel comfortable, I advice you buy a 2×4 and lay on the widest part. From there, you can drill you own holes accordingly. It will look just as nice! Instructions 1. Measure how long your dining table is and cut your 2×4 accordingly. Ours happened to be the perfect length, which most standard dining tables should be. I found that the longer the centerpiece, the more stable it was. 2. Twist your candles into the pre-drilled holes.  3. Disperse your greenery and flowers on either side of your centerpiece.  4. Enjoy!!  I love the scandinavian vibe from the wood and neutral colored greenery. It’s the perfect look for fall if you ask me! My folks were over the other day and my dad asked what was up with the “candle train”. I thought it was pretty funny – whatever you call it, it’s sure to be a show stopper!  XOXO,...

DIY Stamped Place Cards

Can you believe we are already in the middle of September?  I absolutely love this time of year. For me, fall happens to be the perfect excuse to entertain, so I thought it would be fun to host a wine and mini dessert night in our home! A time to unwind, sip and nibble on some treats. I decided to create these modern DIY stamped place cards to put on the table to personalize it just a bit. Materials Martha Stewart Metalworking Alphabet Stamp Set Hobby and Craft Metal Sheets Scissors Thick Cardstock (or other material to adhere name to) Glue Dots Twine Instructions 1. Choose your letters and slide into the groove on the track handle. (keep in mind that you need to insert letter to be stamped in reverse) 2. Place a rubber embossing stamp or similar material under your metal and press firmly with a slight rocking motion.  3. Cut your metal name to desired length. 4. Using a glue dot, adhere the metal name to your cardstock. (I actually found some pretty vinyl siding samples at Home Depot that I thought would make fun name tags!). 5. Tie a piece of twine onto your tag. 6. Slide into your folded napkin and voila! It’s a pretty simple and playful way to dress up your table this fall for guests. They can even keep the cards if they want!  Having a name tag on the table seems to elevate the experience just a bit – even if it is just for some wine and sweets!  You can check out the how-to for this easy and fun Modern Wood Candelabra here!  XOXO,...

Ok guys, I’m pretty excited about this DIY. I’ve teamed up with PrettyPegs, a company based in Stockholm, Sweden.  It’s an absolute joy to introduce you to these products, which combines classic Scandinavian simplicity with colorful playfulness. Sand your table if it hasn’t been pre-sanded already. 2. Put your first coat of Polyurethane onto your table top. Allow to dry and sand again. Wipe clean. Put on a second coat.  3. 3D Object Capture | Dala Horse Prints

Well, friends. Welcome to the future, because this crazy technology is straight out of the movie Mission Impossible. As a maker and DIYer, this is a truly revolutionary way to create.  With the new all-in-one Sprout 3D scanning and object capture, I can take any object, manipulate it digitally and then bring it into the physical world in a refreshing way!  It’s a rare and extraordinary way of working with materials in your very own home.  I decided to work with a Scandinavian Dala horse. My husband is proud of his Swedish backgroud, but coming across a Dala Horse is both rare and pricy. We’ve collected a few from flea markets, but those opportunities are far and few between. I decided to create a collection of Dala Horse prints. Here is how we were able to create these lovely 3D designs for our home:  1. Simply place you object on the touch mat and tap the scan button. The Illuminator will capture a 3D color image of your object. 2. Follow the simple guided instructions to rotate and capture your object from multiple angles. This is where you can watch as Sprout magically combines the images to build a beautiful, fully editable 3D model before your eyes.  3. Once you bring your object into the digital world, you can manipulate it however you want: rotate, shrink, stretch, or combine with other 3D objects to give your creation a whole new look. We played around with some of the awesome filters and decided to give it some texture using the wood and marble option.  4. You can share full 3D images of your creations online or connect to a 3D printer to create a physical...
