So I finally learned to make my own macrame! Yesterday I shared my plans for our mini laundry room makeover. Out of the four options I was thinking about, I decided to combine a few of them! It was so much fun and incredibly relaxing! It’s not perfect by any means, but learning new skills is what I’m all about.
I decided to do a couple fun designs – your basic square knot and double hitch diagonal! I used white cord and dipped the ends with blue dye to give it just a little pop of color! I like how it doesn’t completely conceal the washer and dryer, but adds that fun texture to the tiny space in the hall! Joel made custom made hooks to attach to the ceiling and hang the rod from! It worked out perfectly!
It’s so easy to move out of the way when doing laundry, I made a simple tie to hang one side of the curtain when I need to get to the dryer or washer. When we move, this will still be a neat piece to hang on the wall somewhere in our new home. Maybe even over a bed, it would make a great statement piece!
I hope to play around with macrame a bit more! I would love to create a larger piece and add strands of color to really pop! I’m also really excited to experiment with weaving as well! I would love to take this class, still debating on it! How cool would that be?! I’ve always LOVED Maryanne Moodie‘s work!!!
Well, there’s our mini laundry room makeover! In the end, I hope it feels like the space has some sort of personality of it’s own. I just can’t wait to have an actual room to do laundry in one day and not have to do it in the living room all the time!
What do you think of this macrame fad?!
