I know I’ve shared my love for pillows before many times on the blog! They are a great way to change the look of any space frequently and affordably when trends come and go. But I think what’s even better than going out and buying pillows from generic big box stores is buying a pillow for a greater good.
One Life is an amazing organization that helps refugees and impoverished families all over the world. Their latest project is helping the village of Paut tu Pauk, Myanmar by building a cistern large enough to capture rain water for the entire village year round. Something SO simple that we take for granted…daily.
I have to ask myself, how far would I drive for a really, really, really, great pillow? I mean, one I saw in West Elm’s catalog or a Target commercial? 5 Miles? 10 Miles? Well, the villagers in Myanmar WALK 2 miles down and up a steep mountain to collect water, a vital resource for living. Not only is this laborious, but it’s completely unsanitary. So really, they are working so hard for water that’s not even really that good for them.
Needless to say, I am so passionate about this organization and the good they are trying to do for families trying to survive – let alone worrying about how pretty their living rooms look and if they have the latest must-haves in design trends. It’s so important to not forget that we have first world problems, which aren’t really that bad. They have third world problems and sometimes it’s life or death.
So, today I’m asking that you take the time to check out their site – take a look around and read about their cause. If you feel inclined to purchase a pillow for a good cause, you should! But there’s no pressure. One Love is ever so kind and giving one of their gorgeous Naga Pillows for FREE, handmade by the Naga tribe in Myanmar. Be sure to enter for your chance to win below!
