Triangular + Pillow + DIY

It’s been months (and months and months) since I’ve taken out the sewing machine. I’m not one of those people that sews on some regular basis. I’ve never finished a project because somewhere down the line I get stuck and don’t know what to do. So I leave it for another day. Which turns into months, naturally.

Needless to say, my husband has been begging me to hem some of his work pants. I haven’t been so thrilled, I’ve been putting it off for days. Finally, I got out the old sewing machine and wiped off the thick layer of dust. Turns out the pants don’t need to be sewed anyway, so I had the sewing machine out for no reason really. Staring at me. Begging me not to put it back into the closet.

I decided it was about time I sewed something. I mean, how long has it been? I gathered up all my scraps of fabric and decided to make something completely rad (there’s a word I don’t use everyday). I decided to make some out-of-the-norm triangular pillows, which is why the word rad seems quite fitting. Why do pillows always have to be square or round anyway?!

I would give you the step by step process of how I made them, but really it was just a blur. I simply cut my fabrics into triangles. Sewed them inside out and left a tiny opening so I could flip it inside out again and push my stuffing through.  I actually recycled an old pillow (which was way uncomfortable to sleep on) and used that stuffing for my new pillows. I don’t know how to stitch the opening closed very nicely, so I used a fabric glue adhesive, which worked perfect for me! I told you, I’m not a sewer, right?

I was surprised as to how easy it turned out to be. I whipped up three pillows in about 20 minutes and I am loving them!!! I am tempted to try other shapes now! If you have basic sewing skills and can sew straight lines, this project is for you! If you have no idea what I just said, I apologize! But the triangle pillows are still cool, right?!

So, what do you think about this fabulous DIY? I love the triangular shape and fabrics I ended up using. They are all made up of various pieces and textures, which is my kind of style!

XOXO, Lidy
