It’s not very often my husband and I get to escape and go off on fun adventures. This weekend, however, was something out of the norm and I LOVED it!
We headed to good old Pasadena for partial business, but mostly play! We stayed two glorious nights in a hotel where we didn’t have to worry about making the bed or cooking breakfast. We went on adventures trying to find thrift shops (sadly found none….I know, what?!?!). We walked and talked about what houses we would buy if we could afford it. We enjoyed some tea from our favorite place, CBTL (you know, Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf). I went shopping at a mall far too posh for me….I felt strangely out of place, but it was still a wonderful experience. I even went to a matinee solo. It was wonderful! My husband stayed behind and attended NAMM. It’s mostly a man convention where they look at music stuff all day. Like guitars, amps, pedals, strings and what nots. It’s also known as National Association of Music Merchants. Or something like that!
As fun as that all was, I have to say the highlight of my weekend was a little something to do with food. I mean, am I the only one that bases vacations and road trips on hot food spots? I guess we watch far too much Food Network around here. Anyways, my husband and I are BIG on ethnic food. I was raised in a dutch/indonesian home. We ate all sorts of amazing dishes. Lots of curries, so good! My husband grew up in various countries overseas, so he has all sorts of experience with different cultural foods (match made in food heaven). In LA, we have our ULTIMATE favorite resturant. Yes, that’s saying a lot. If you are ever in the area, you must be brave and try Chicky Barbecue and Grill. It is the most authentic indonesian restaurant I have ever come across (if someone knows of others, I’d love to hear your suggestions). Everything on the menu is bound to be amazing!!! So, if you go be sure to be brave and try whatever your gut tells you to get!!! I know mine has never let me down! Anyways, that is the highlight of my weekend, simple yes. But good enough for a girl like me!
I would love to hear from you! What did you get up to this weekend?!
