Snap So, this was the third photo shoot I had this past week. We had a lot of fun playing around, the weather was beautiful and the kidlets were perfectly sweet! I can’t believe I get the opportunity to take pictures for people. Especially since it all happened suddenly and without effort. Some things are like that, you don’t have to make it happen, it just happens for you. I am grateful for the chances I’m given to get out there and put my camera to use…I am always satisfied with the results and I know the more I get out there and practice, the easier it will become. This particular shoot was a good friend of mine and her cute daughter and son. The little one you see at the end is her adorable nephew! ... read more

Glittered Leaves The other day we had a little storm blow through. It rained and poured and made a mess of our little neighborhood. Now, we have piles and piles of leaves around our home. My husband decided to start raking yesterday and I decided to be the helpful wife I am and help out too. Of course, I’m sure this isn’t what he had in mind! I decided that some of the leaves were too beautiful to put in the trash, so I  collected a few to use as a little decor in our home. At least I can say I contributed a little bit in yard work! This is a two minute craft! Go outside and hunt for something fun to put on display in your home…. I picked a few large leaves from two of our trees. Spray with adhesive glue and sprinkle the glitter.  I chose a little bit of silver and red, since it matches our Christmas tree.  There you have it, another easy and simple project! ... read more

Vintage Christmas

A Simple Vintage Christmas I love this time of year! I’m sure I’ve mentioned that many times before. I thought I would share snippets of our Christmas home with you. This is the start to our collection as the young married version of ourselves. I’m sure as time goes on, our taste for things will begin to evolve as well as every aspect of our lives. Right now, our lives are relatively simple: we are just the two of us, busy little bees and enjoying this chapter in our lives. We thought our home should reflect something along those lines: a fun, bright, carefree and welcoming environment. I think if you were to step into our front door, you would see what I mean. Our home has this very comfy, retro, age-old feel to it. So, here is a little taste to what we have so far. It’s not much, but we are satisfied with our simple vintage Christmas! Our Christmas tree decorated with red and silver. We decided to add a little height to our little tree, so we placed it atop some vintage suitcases. This was my husbands idea and I love the look!  This and that, here and there.  I love wreaths inside the home, it feels warm and cozy. Mr. & Mrs. Clause circa 1950. Some vintage Italian jars. To some, they are hideous, to us they are perfect! Hope you enjoyed that mini tour of our home during the holidays! ... read more

Magazine Christmas Tree If you are looking for a way to put some old magazines to use, this is a great way to recycle and reuse. I have a million magazines sitting around the house and why not put them to some good use by decorating some space in your home! I did a couple of trees for my dining room table and not only are they unique, but they are adorable!  Simply pick a magazine you no longer find useful. Bend the magazine to break the spine.  Fold the top right page into the seam of the magazine, then one more time. Repeat for all individual pages. Fold the bottom triangle of each folded page up so that the magazine is now flat at the bottom.  Spray paint your tree any desired color and immediately sprinkle glitter while the paint is still wet. For a more unique tree, leave natural so pages of your magazine are exposed. Apply adhesive glue and immediately sprinkle with glitter.  Ribbon is optional, but adds a little something extra!  There you have it: handmade with love.  I can’t wait for our upcoming craft night, take one guess what the girls and I are going to do! I think that this was a good trial run, but next time I may use some color. Hmmm…..white or gold, what do you think? Let me know if you give this one a try, I would love to see the results of your magazine Christmas tree! ... read more

More fun behind the camera It’s been a very busy month for pictures and I won’t complain. I’ve had to put my crafting aside and make way for some photography fun.  Although I’ve been itching to get some stuff done around the house and share my crafts, I find there isn’t enough time in the day. I guess I’m just not one of those people who can just stay home and craft all day! I had a wonderful opportunity to capture some more family moments with another lovely couple of friends. Not only are they all sweet as can be, but they have the most darling boys! This is why crafts can wait, because these moments are worth it!  Better get back to work, there’s still more editing to do!... read more

The more we get together It seems the more I get behind my camera, the more excited I feel that I am pursuing my passion! There is no better feeling than capturing something your passionate about and watch it come alive.  This month I have been so blessed to have a lot of bookings. I always get a bit nervous, because I want everything to go right and nothing to go wrong. This past week I had the opportunity to capture a wonderful family of three. They have been good friends of my husband and mine for a few years now. Their beautiful daughter happens to be a walking miracle. She is gorgeous, smiley, cute as a button and greatly loved. I am so blessed to do what I do and each time strive to get better. Here are a couple pictures from our shoot at dusk: ... read more

Knitting During Christmas, it seems we have started a new tradition in my family. Each year we unwrap a knitted treasure made especially by my mom. Last year we all received  scarves, but this year we were given a tuque (or beanies if you will). I am amazed at how quickly and beautifully my mom can knit her creations…they are so wonderfully made. I watch her as she knits away while watching a movie or visiting…I can hear the clicking from the needles and it’s so comforting. These are the presents I will cherish forever, because I know it was made especially with love in mind (I don’t care if that sounds cheesy…cause it just happens to be true)!  As I looked at the massive ball of yarn at my mothers feet, I realized that this is something I would like to try…again. Yes, I tried once a LONG time ago and knit my neice a very small scarf. Then, I got bored and moved on (like I do most things I try to get into). But, I’m ready to try again! There are so many things you can knit and have fun with, so we will see how far I get. Here are a few knitted things I love!  Here are the lovely toques we received this Christmas!  A cute little knit cupcake Love this scarf! And this one too! Not sure what this is all about, but it looks fun… Darling brooch These are just too adorable! Someone was hard at work here ... read more

Hello December I can’t believe it’s already the 12th month! This is my favorite time of year. I can finally pull out all my cozy sweaters, cute boots, leggings, fleece pajamas and sip on warm beverages all day long! Of course there is Christmas and all the goodies that come with that! This month I found a few cute calendars for my desktop,   which I will share with you. It has become something that I look forward to doing and it helps me stay on track, especially when I have a lot going on. This is going to be a busy, busy month. I have booked a lot of photo shoots (yes, photography is something I love to do) and am looking forward to sharing some of those pictures with you (I admit, I haven’t been so good at keeping up with that on my blog…so many things going on at the same time)! Then there is the holiday festivities: Christmas, opening presents, over eating, the every day hustle and bustle. Still, it’s my favorite time of year! Here are a few of the calendars I thought were cute… I love the retro feel of this desktop calendar This is the one I chose to put on my computer…I love the different aspects of Christmas they have added in the picture, plus the crafty feel! It’s bright and vibrant which makes me feel happy!  Of course, old school pictures like this remind me of classic Christmas movies like the original 1947, Miracle of 34th Street I love this photo, it reminds me a lot of Canada and the... read more

Handmade Ornaments I’m finally back from my much needed holiday! I had a fantastic time with family and friends in the cold, but amazing country of Canada. There is nothing more beautiful than the white snow and crisp skies. You can see the smoke exiting the chimneys and every detail of the trees as they are covered in frost. I love the crunch your shoes make as you walk through hardened snow and cozying up under a blanket while sipping on a hot cup of tea or hot chocolate. I took in every moment while I was away and tried to release all that stress I had allowed to pile on my shoulders. It was refreshing being away and spending it with positive and loving people. I felt so renewed as I started back into regular routines like work, house chores and grocery shopping.  Today was a good day! On that note, I shall jump right back into my bloggy blog world. My husband joined me in Canada for a few days and brought with him a project he has been working on for the past week. He was given a new scroll saw and has been putting it into good use ever since. In our home, the Christmas tree is an assortment of many lovely things, but mainly it consists of unique snowflakes. Each year we go out and buy a new ornament (snowflake of course) and add it to our growing Christmas tree (this is our fourth Christmas together…wow, time flies!). This year however, we decided to have a handmade ornament added to our collection, which is great... read more
