Perfect Bag For Fall | What’s In Your Bag?

I know, I know, it’s a fashion-y post today! When a girl’s gotta bag like this, you just have to share it with the world! Thanks to RedEnvelope, I am all set for the fall. Seriously, this bag goes with me everywhere!!  Here’s the thing, I’m not a small-bag-kinda-gal. A matter of fact, my big bags eat those little bags for lunch! I will literally use a small purse for all my little things in my big bag. People, I travel with a lot of stuff, so I really and truly need the space! It’s hard to find purses that look stylish, while serving their function as chauffeur for the loads of stuff we insist on carrying everyday. But with three small ones, what do you expect?! I kind of get tired of my diaper bags, so I like to switch it up a little.  On top of my essentials (wallet, lip gloss, hand lotion, keys, etc.), I always carry a notebook and pen for those moments I get creative inspiration – because yes, it can happen at anytime and I love to be prepared! I also carry my business cards wherever I go. You just never know who you might run into and what opportunities come knocking at your door!  Or that time you pulled out, not just one pair of socks, but two. Then you know it’s time to do some cleaning/organizing!! All in all, I love this gorgeous leather Matt & Nat bag for fall! The color is perfect for the season and goes with everything. So thankful to have something new (and oh so pretty) for this upcoming season!  So... read more

Front Entry Decorating For Fall Under $50

Hello friends! Today’s post is a little different, so be warned! I’m venturing outdoors instead of staying inside. This feels very strange to me, so I hope you forgive the awkwardness that is this post….I just had to share!  We all have budgets, mine is always on the lower end. I decided to share with you my front entry decor that I was able to acquire under $50! To me, that’s amazing…it seriously adds up. But here’s the thing, if you keep your eyes open and do a few little DIY’s you can really have a lovely outcome. Since this is our first year in our new home, I wanted to focus on making it feel inviting, both inside and out!  1. Keep your eyes peeled on sales: I know, this is obvious. But shop around!! If you see something you love one place, check out the other stores in your area (even the dollar store) for something similar in design. I was able to find a tall ceramic planter for $10 (regular $25). It’s a great statement piece and I can use it for almost anything!  2. Pick a color theme: This year I wanted modern and simple, so I stuck with white and pops of copper! Spray paint can be your best friend as can thrift stores!!  3. Flowers go a long way: You know that mums are a poplular fall flower and they are cheap! For just $10, I was able to buy two bunches of them! PS. They last a long time!!  4. Have fun putting your design together: It’s not rocket science and it’s hard to go... read more

Kids Halloween Dress Up Ideas

If you could see me right now, I’d be vibrating with excitement and freaking out…just a little. Who isn’t a big time fan of The Land of Nod?! Well, we are! I know I’ve been following them all over the web for a couple years now, but especially after having children. I’ve only dreamt of being able to team up and our two worlds to collide. Today it’s finally become a reality! Be sure to head over to their blog, Honest to Nod, to see these three cute little faces and hear a little bit about the dress up pieces I’ve picked out for this Halloween!  XOXO, Lidy Feel free to leave a comment!  You can also follow Hello Lidy by email, Pinterest, Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram... read more

Love the look of these boots – they add that pop of color that I’m digging for this season!   I love statement jewelry pieces for my wardrobe and these would be the perfect addition! They have that classy look with that bohemian twist to keep it fun!  Who doesn’t love modern design?! I’m pretty sure our kids need these fabulously minimalistic toys in their life! DIY Quirky Head Planter for Halloween

Yes, it’s true. I’m already talking about Halloween! But how can you not when the leaves are changing and the scenery outside is screaming fall?! Naturally, I had to do a quirky DIY head planter for Halloween. Materials Styrofoam head X-acto knife Pencil Textured spay paint Faux (or real) succulents or other arrangement Directions Make an outline with your pencil on the top of your styrofoam head.  Take your X-acto knife and begin to carefully cut following along your outline. Note: This can take time and is a bit messy!  Once you have the depth you need to place your arrangement, spray paint in a safe area. This will add texture to your planter! Begin to place your arrangement, then display your quirky fall/Halloween decor!  This really is an interesting piece and I might just have to keep it up all year long. I can simply change out the arrangement if I want and add a variety of seasonal decor throughout the upcoming holidays! What do you think of this DIY? Can you see yourself sporting a head planter in your home?! XOXO, Lidy Feel free to leave a comment!  You can also follow Hello Lidy by... read more

Black And White Print

I’m planning a fun DIY to share with you this week, but I need your help! I love these black and white prints, but which one should I choose?  I have four prints that I absolutely love, two of which are my own photography. I usually have no problem just picking, but I am having difficulty choosing only one. I can’t wait to show you the DIY – it’s so easy and I think it will be a lot of fun in the space I plan on hanging it. Plus, black and white really help modernize a space I think. And I need a bit more modern! For now, which one are you leaning towards? Living Room Progress | Mid Century Meets Modern With PlaidFox

You might recall me sharing pictures of our home before. You can see the potential! Moving to Canada in general was hard as an aspiring designer and stylist. I wasn’t sure if there were going to be a lot of choices when it came to decorating our home or any space for that matter. I really wanted to support Canadian companies and brands, because this is home and it’s important to shop local! Then I discovered something AMAZING! Introducing PlaidFox: my new go-to when designing and dreaming up a space! Have you taken a look at their selection friends?! It’s seriously amazing. Best part is, they are fellow Canadians – I’m so proud!!! I love that they provide trendy furniture and decor pieces that are accessible and affordable! I couldn’t be more thrilled! Naturally, I’ve been dreaming up revamping and reinventing our living room space with gorgeous pieces from PlaidFox and here is what I’m thinking: 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5a | 5b | 6 | 7a | 7b The space I’m considering revamping is lacking a bit right now and in need of something a little more. I am hoping to utilize the space in front of the fireplace where we can enjoy warm fires in the winter, but not close it off from the entire living room. Here’s what the space could potentially look like with my PlaidFox picks! The space looks so grown up, but still fresh and fun! I love the mid century inspired furniture pieces, pops of gold, pillows with pattern and some texture from the cowhide! What do you think?! There’s just so much goodness to choose from!! I’m feeling pretty excited at... read more

Use Thrifted Copper Dishes As Fall Decor

As the leaves slowly start to turn color, I am starting to feel like our home is ready for a little fall decor! I am loving copper for this upcoming season. It’s earthy, but still very trendy! Now-a-days you can find copper at almost any thrift store or anywhere for that matter, so why not stock up and add a pop of color to your home this autumn!  I chose Heather to compliment these beautiful copper containers I got at our local thrift store. The simple greenery makes the perfect contrast and looks quite modern in the space. You can choose to use any kind of plant or flower, it’s completely up to you!  I decided to play with the placement of the copper arrangements. They look great grouped together as a centerpiece on a dining room table or sitting solo on a shelf. The options are endless and it’s something you can really leave out all year round if you wanted. The copper truly reminds me of the changing leaves, so it’s the perfect piece to bring a little outdoors in!  What kind of decor do you like to bring out during the fall? Faux Fur DIY Stool

Yesterday I was sharing my Wednesday’s Wishlist. On it, was the amazing Faux Fur Stool by Nate Berkus! My dilemma: buy or DIY? As you know, I love a good challenge so I decided to just make my own easy-peasy version for home!  Materials Stool (mine was an old IKEA stool, but this one would be perfect!) Faux Fur (IKEA has a great selection) Safety Pins Spray Paint (in white if you have legs you want to cover, but wood legs would be lovely!) Directions 1. Gather your supplies 2. If you have a stool that doesn’t have wood legs, I suggest spray painting them white to help look a little more chic 3. After you have sprayed a few layers of paint and it has dried completely, take your stool and wrap your faux fur around the top of your stool 4. Secure with safety pins. Yes, safety pins 5. Once most of the fur has been secured together, flip over and adjust and pin where needed 6. Fluff your fur and enjoy!!  It’s not Nate Berkus, but I did save myself $60 and I think it’s pretty fun! You can use it as a foot stool or even an extra seat if you wanted. Because it is only safety pinned you may have to adjust or repin over time. The best part is, the fur isn’t damaged and you can reuse elsewhere if you want at a later time!  This is a great addition to our home, I love the all white look. Not to mention, there’s just something about a furry stool that gets me every... read more
