Turn A Birch Door Into a Dining Table With Prettypegs

Ok guys, I’m pretty excited about this DIY. I’ve teamed up with PrettyPegs, a company based in Stockholm, Sweden.  It’s an absolute joy to introduce you to these products, which combines classic Scandinavian simplicity with colorful playfulness. This Birch door turned dining table only takes about 30 minutes and you have yourself a lovely new piece for the home.   Materials Solid Birch Door Sandpaper Damp Cloth Minwax Water Based Polyurethane Foam Brush Prettypegs  (we went with the Otto 700) Screw Driver Instructions 1. Sand your table if it hasn’t been pre-sanded already. 2. Put your first coat of Polyurethane onto your table top. Allow to dry and sand again. Wipe clean. Put on a second coat.  3. Once your table top has completely dried, flip over and measure where you would like to place your legs. Screw in the hardware accordingly.  4. Simply screw in the legs, flip over and enjoy!! It’s so easy, you could make these all day long. If you really wanted to. I love this dining table! The soft pink legs truly make the overall space look more modern and Scandinavian-inspired. I mean, seriously. You could make so many projects for the home using their amazing selection: tables, sofas and beds to name a few.  I’m debating on using our new table as a large desk/craft table in our studio space! It’s just so pretty – what do you think?!  XOXO,... read more

The Plant Series | ZZ Plant

I’m excited to introduce a new series on the blog! Of course, it is totally dependent on whether you guys find this helpful at all, so be sure to let me know what you think! The Plant Series is really a guide to common houseplants and suggestions for those of you just exploring the idea or those of you who have had years of houseplant experience! Either way, I am eager to share with you all that I have learned the last few years. To start this series off, I’ve chosen the very easy-going East African ZZ Plant! I’ve been told this particular plant thrives on neglect, if that is even a thing. But really, it’s very forgiving if you forget to water it for a few days and doesn’t panic when it’s in low light. This is the perfect plant for those of you who are just wanting to test your green thumb!  The ZZ plant is great for adding a bit of emphasis in a particular area of any space! It’s upright stems and deep green, glossy leaves are what makes this plant so attractive.  Here are some plant care tips: 1. Keep your ZZ in a bright to low light room. You don’t want to put this little guy in direct sunlight, otherwise you run the risk of scorching their pretty leaves.  2. Water thoroughly and allow the top 2-inches of soil to dry completely in between waterings. Overwatering your ZZ will be a fast way of killing it – so avoid soggy soil! You also want to keep the leaves clean by gently wiping them... read more

3D Object Capture | Dala Horse Prints

Well, friends. Welcome to the future, because this crazy technology is straight out of the movie Mission Impossible. As a maker and DIYer, this is a truly revolutionary way to create.  With the new all-in-one Sprout 3D scanning and object capture, I can take any object, manipulate it digitally and then bring it into the physical world in a refreshing way!  It’s a rare and extraordinary way of working with materials in your very own home.  I decided to work with a Scandinavian Dala horse. My husband is proud of his Swedish backgroud, but coming across a Dala Horse is both rare and pricy. We’ve collected a few from flea markets, but those opportunities are far and few between. I decided to create a collection of Dala Horse prints. Here is how we were able to create these lovely 3D designs for our home:  1. Simply place you object on the touch mat and tap the scan button. The Illuminator will capture a 3D color image of your object. 2. Follow the simple guided instructions to rotate and capture your object from multiple angles. This is where you can watch as Sprout magically combines the images to build a beautiful, fully editable 3D model before your eyes.  3. Once you bring your object into the digital world, you can manipulate it however you want: rotate, shrink, stretch, or combine with other 3D objects to give your creation a whole new look. We played around with some of the awesome filters and decided to give it some texture using the wood and marble option.  4. You can share full 3D images of your creations online or connect to a 3D printer to create a physical... read more

Five Plants I’m Loving For The Home

If you haven’t noticed, I’m kind of a crazy plant lady. I wasn’t always like this – believe me! There was a time that I killed even bamboo, but thank goodness, those days are over. If you were to ask me what my favorite plant is, I wouldn’t be able to tell you.  There are just too many amazing ones and I keep discovering even more that I love! But, what I can tell you are five plants I’m currently loving for the home as of late!  1. Monstera.  This hip new plant is predicted to be gracing the homes of many plant-lovers this year! It’s certainly intriguing and definitely a must-have! I mean, aren’t those leaves GORGEOUS?! It will add tons of character to any space.  2. Fiddle Leaf Fig.  Ok, so just because  the Monstera is moving into first place does NOT mean we have to say goodbye to one of the most striking plants of all. I will forever have a soft spot in my heart for this little guy! It’s always a show stopper.  3.  Rubber Tree Plant.  What first got my attention about this beauty were the shiny, perfectly shaped leaves! They may start out small, but can grow over three feet tall – yes please! A very versatile plant indeed.  4. Asparagus Fern.  I love how light and airy this plant is! Not to mention, how it grows and hangs so beautifully on a shelf or side table. It’s a plant that adds great texture to any room!  5. Inch Plant.  Another great hanging plant that has gorgeous color and texture! If you are looking for a plant... read more

Minted: Through The Lens Photography

My home is turning into a jungle…and I’m loving it! I feel like I can never have enough plants. But when you start to physically run out of room, it might be a sign to step back and walk away – even from purchasing those amazing deals sometimes. But, another way I can introduce some natural green elements into the home is through art! Minted‘s new photography prints are the perfect way to add a statement or play up a certain theme or atmosphere for your home!  This beautiful Summer Yellow Cactus print is part of the Through the Lens challenge! It’s the first photography-only competition hosted by the independent artist marketplace. Through the Lens was the second largest challenge ever for Minted! With almost 5,000 submissions, 459 new pieces selected and 248 total artists represented., it’s all very impressive!  These exclusive Minted pieces just started to make their debut onto Minted‘s site and are a must-have!  I am in love with the color and tone of my new print! It seems to fit right in near my new plant wall in the living room. I’ve been slowly transforming the space to feel a little more boho-chic and this print really helps set the mood in the room.  Whatever you style or aesthetic, you can spend hours browsing through all the many lovely photography prints available. It’s almost impossible to leave empty handed! There’s something to be said about capturing the natural and physical state of places, objects and people. Don’t you think?!  XOXO,... read more

Six Interiors That Showcase Lovely Tanned Leather Sofas

|1| Ok, so I’ve been missing a lot around here lately! I am sorry and please bare with me as I am trying my hardest to find balance in my life as of late!! I’ve been doing some extra work on the side, contributing to other sites so that I can start making a little more income for my family. Because, if I am being honest, I can’t really provide a whole lot otherwise. It’s a vicious cycle my friends!! So, I hope you can forgive my absence and continue to understand!  On another note, I’ve been really excited to share with you these six interiors that showcase lovely tanned leather sofas! It’s been kind of a dream of mine to own one and these interiors prove exactly why I’ve been a little obsessed! Tanned leather sofas feel timeless and sleek, no matter the interior in my opinion. Which brings me to my next point, they suit ANY design style, which is rare! I’ve seen a lot of grey or navy mid century sofas around as of late. And I was super tempted to jump on the band wagon, but it feels like it’s too much of a fad and I felt a little put off by that (I took that risk with our bed!). Although grey is a great neutral, tanned leather is a fabulous piece that can stand out or fit in to any environment – as you can plainly see: |2| |3| |4| |5| |6| I would love to know what you think about the idea of a leather sofa in your home?
